Annie has chosen The English Concert’s recording of Vivaldi’s Gloria, as found on the edition released in 2011.

“This is a work that I first performed as a child singing soprano, and somehow every time I perform it I am taken back to the wonder I felt the first time this incredible piece unfolded around me.

However, last month I had the honour of standing in Pisa’s vast cathedral in front of a sold out audience to perform this work under the direction of the inimitable Trevor Pinnock, and it was more powerful than ever.

I find this recording captures the rapturous beauty of the work and its inherent hope, a balm for the soul in these troubled times.”
