Kyle has chosen the 1988 recording of J.S. Bach’s Brandenburg Concertos and Orchestra Suites

“My very first encounter with a TEC recording was a pivotal experience for me. I was in college, aged 21 or 22, and I was peeking through my school library’s recording catalogue.

The English Concert’s 1988 CD set of J. S. Bach’s Brandenburg Concertos and Orchestral Suites caught my eye. Being a violist, I began my listening session with the viola-forward sixth Brandenburg Concerto, and I was mesmerised by the virtuosity and powerful spirit of the performance.

I quickly fell in love with the entire disc set. Hearing it for that first time helped to open a new musical chapter in my life, centred around a love for period performance.”
