Handel’s Esther at West London Synagogue

We are pleased to announce a live recording of Handel’s Esther in its first version of 1718 on Wednesday, 12th March 2025 at 7:30pm, at the magnificent West London Synagogue. Presented around the time of Purim, an important festival in the Jewish calendar which celebrates the story of the Book of Esther from the Hebrew Bible, this performance will be filmed for Handel for All, capturing the beauty of this stunning sanctuary.

This performance features Hilary Cronin portraying the Jewish queen, Esther, Xavier Hetherington as the mercurial Ahasuerus, Matthew Brook as the vindictive and cruel Haman, Hugo Hymas as the courageous Mordecai, and Hugh Cutting as the Priest. The players of The English Concert, directed by Peter Whelan, will bring dramatic action and depth to this powerful story.

Due to the security needs of the Synagogue, this event is only open to ticket holders who are friends of TEC, their guests, and members of the West London Synagogue. If you are not a member of WLS, your details will be passed to the West London Synagogue, and you will need to complete a form and bring photo ID to the event. Tickets can be purchased using the form on this webpage. Please email holly@englishconcert.co.uk if you have any questions.
