Welcome to The English Concert’s 2018/2019 season. This year we offer a wide range of both repertoire, directors and venues which in turn reflect the many facets of music-making in the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries.

Music of the Elizabethan Court is perfectly suited to the candlelit intimacy of the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse at the Globe, the Christmas programme of Scarlatti, Gabrieli and Bach conducted by Laurence Cummings finds a natural visual and acoustic partner in the splendour of St John’s, Smith Square, and the arrangements of Mozart and Haydn made for the burgeoning market of house concerts finds a perfect home in our own London “home”, Wigmore Hall...
