Three Baroque Tenors

"The English Concert, a natural choice for this repertoire, don't disappoint with their crisp, vibrant performance." BBC review, Charlotte Gardner 2010

Three Baroque Tenors

In these 15 arias, Ian Bostridge inhabits the strikingly diverse musical personalities of three tenors who in the Baroque era challenged castrato supremacy: the sterling Englishman John Beard and two brilliant Italians, the athletic Francesco Borosini and the cultivated Annibale Pio Fabri. In composing for all three, Handel tailored his music to their particular talents, once again, as Bostridge has said 'proving his ability to recreate himself while remaining essentially the same'.
